Flower Mound Dental Implants

Made with the purpose of replacing missing and heavily damaged teeth, implants are what is known as a whole tooth replacement prostheses. They are titanium screws that are inserted into the jawbone and fused in place. As such, the main requirement for a candidate is having enough jawbone to support it.

After the jawbone fuses to the titanium screw, then the replacement tooth, such as a porcelain crown, can be fitted to it. Treatments can range from one implant to many, as well as different options like dentures. We will go through all your options with you during your consultation at our office in Flower Mound, Texas.

Why choose a dental implant?

When it comes to restoring the look, feel, and bite of a complete smile, implants are largely considered the most reliable and permanent. There’s little risk of it moving around, unlike a removable denture, and it doesn’t rely on other teeth to support it, unlike bridges. Implants can look and feel almost perfectly like natural teeth as well, so no-one will be able to tell the difference.

What makes a good candidate for Flower Mound dental implants?

Dental implants may be the perfect option if you want to restore your smile after tooth loss or damage. However, we need to take a look and an x-ray first to make sure that you have the jawbone density to support the implant and that irregular oral anatomy isn’t a problem. This is done during your consultation with the team at Brite Smile Dentistry, so we recommend making an appointment to find out sooner rather than later.

The Dental Implant Procedure

In most cases, we complete the dental implant treatment in two appointments, following your consultation. In the first appointment, an incision is made into the gum to expose the jawbone, where the dental implant is deeply implanted. Once the hole is closed, we give it time to heal and give the jawbone time to fuse to the implant in a process called osseointegration.

Once the bone has fused to the implant, the second phase begins. How this works depends on what kind of implant you want. For instance, if you require a crown, we will have made impressions of your teeth to create the crown that fits the shape of your mouth and teeth as best as possible, before bonding the crown to the implant with dental cement, after fitting the implant with an abutment.
